Susan Cave
Susan Cave (maiden name: Bender) was born around 1842 in Ohio to Frederick and Barbara Bender. Her father was a German immigrant who worked as a drayman and owned $700 of real estate and $100 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Circleville, Ohio. She married Emmanuel Cave there on May 23, 1861. They had at least seven children: William, born around 1869; Florence, born around 1872; Harry, born around 1873; Rosa, born around 1876; Bunn, born around 1878; Roy, born around 1879; and Bertha, born around 1882. The family lived in Circleville, and her husband worked as a well digger. By 1870, they owned $700 of real estate. Emmanuel died on May 15, 1916. She applied for a widow’s pension two weeks later and eventually secured one. She died in 1922.
