Dear Brother & Sister
Your last letter should have been answered sooner, but I have kept putting it off from time to time 'till now I am kept purty busy now so that I do not find much time to write. I am writing in the Recorder's office. I commenced the first of the month. I expect I will stay here 'till I can go to work on the farm. I have not been out to the farm since I last wrote you neither have I seen Shirk to have any conversation with him. I heard that he had bought a lot of lumber I suppose for the purpose of fixing up some before leaving I think your letter was the means of scareing him if nothing more. I have not bought another horse yet, indeed when I look at it and see the amount of money it will take to start on the place I get almost /

discouraged. every thing is so very high but I still hope things will get some cheaper before spring. I suppose I will not get moved before the first of April. We are haveing very fine weather for winter and plenty of good sleighing. In regard to that box of game I was going to send you, I will give my reasons for not sending it. Game has been very scarce and high nearly as high as in Pittsburg in fact we had no game here but chickens and them very scarce. Davenport expects to move on the place next week he is still working at the lumber yard. The family are all well Ellen is out home getting ready for housekeeping. If she was in town she would write some. You will have to excuse her 'till we get to keeping house ourselves when I hope we will be able to keep up our correspondence a little more regularly than we have been doing.
Write soon. Love to all
As Ever your Brother
