George B. Miles to Brother and Sister, 11 August 1861
Jefferson Barracks Mo Sunday Aug 11th
Dear Brother & Sister
Your letter was received a few days ago and I would have answered it sooner but have not had the time and now I have only time to write a few lines during the last week I have traveled over about one half of Mo we got to this place about noon on Friday purty well worn out I assure you we expect to leave here may be this evening for the Iron Mountain we have not found old Jackson yet but when we do I hope you will hear a good account of us. Accept my thanks for those Postage stamps as they are rather a scarce article with us at present as we have received but $5 since we went into the service so the boys are about all strapped but what they lack in money they make up in courage. But I must stop writing and pack up I will write to you in a few / days again when you write direct to St Louis 15 Reg Co K as ever
your Affect Brother George
