Camp Rolla Sunday Sept 22nd 1861
Dear Brother & Sister
It has been some time since I wrote to you. your letters all reached me in due time. since I last wrote to you I have been very sick I at one time had come to the conclusion that I had written to you the last time, but for some purpose I have again been spared. I lay for three weeks as helpless as a child. But thanks to kind friends I was well attented to. I am now able to be around tho very weak I am a mere shadow of my former self. My desease was Bilious Fever. there is a great deal of sickness in our Company we buried two last week and there is several others very low You will have to excuse me from giveing you any war news this time as I am so weak I can scarcely hold my / pen In regard to our staying here is uncertain some thinks we will stay all winter while others thinks we will leave in a few days. I will write to you in a few days again as soon as I get a little stronger write to me as soon as you can. I remain
