Dear Brother & Sister
Your letters came to hand in due time the money all safe for which you will accept my sincere thanks as I was as near out of clothes as persons generally get. I have delayed writing longer than I should have done but I have been trying to find out something about my future arrangements so that I could tell you but I am as much in the dark as ever about what they are going to do with me Dr Sloan promised me a furlough the beginning of this week so I went over to Louisville and got the $10 of Mr Belknap ready to start either for your city or for home but when I got back to the hospital the Dr had received orders to send all to their Regts that was able / to go and discharge the balance, so my hopes of getting a furlough were destroyed now I will have to wait my turn and they are very slow the Dr thinks I can get my discharge sooner by me going to the Regt and I think I can I have about made up my mind to go to my Regt as soon as it gets to Knoxville Tenn if I am able but I will be able to tell you more about it in a few days. the reason why I did not mention the gentlemans name that hunted me up was I had put my letter in the Office before getting the despatch. Now I must stop writing as I am so nervous I can scarcely hold my pen Write soon
