Dear Brother & Sister
Yours was received on last Saturday. you must excuse me for not writing sooner, as my time is nearly all taken up with other duties, such as standing guard out on picket scouting throwing up breast works &c we are expecting Price to attack us every day and I am fearfull if he does we are going to have purty hot work of it as we / have not got sufficient force here to contend with the force that he is reported to bringing against us. But we will give him the best turn we have in the shop. On last Saturday we had quite a snow storm it snowed nearly all day and was bitter cold. I was on guard at night. I suffered a great deal from the cold. But to day the weather is pleasant again my health has been as good as good could be expected I have had some cold, we have / got a Homepathic Physician in our Regt. Our Officers has very graciously permited him to give his medicine provideing he furnishes it himself. he is a perfect gentleman. he very kindly took the package of medicine I had and gave me a strong case with the same kind of medicine. You asked me in your letter how much farther South they were going to send us this winter If we do not have a fight here I think we will go to Holly Springs Miss. that will be / as far as we will get this winter. Harry Camels career in the army was a short one. I pity him that he had such a violent spell of home-sickness. I had a letter from Owen yesterday he seems to think I am very negligent about writing. It is impossible for me to write to all the way I am fixed. You must excuse this small sheet of paper as writing material is about played out with us. But my sheet is full so I must close write soon
My love to all. As Ever your
Brother George
