Dear Brother
I hardly know wether I am indebted to you a letter or not, but I will take it for granted that I am & write any how. I read your letter to Father in regard to me takeing the farm, but as there was nothing definite in it Father thought I had best write to you in regard to the matter.
Edwin I would like to take the farm & think I could get along. the only difficulty with me is the means to start with. Father told me about some conversation you had with him about your intentions, so I thought if you were willing to advance / the means & wait 'till I can make the money out of the crops I would take the farm. I could buy what I wanted on time here, but I do not want to run the risk for if the crops should fail, I would be worse of than I am now.
The difference between me owing you the money & owing to strangers is if the crops should fail it is not likely you would push me for the money. I have no doubt but what with the knowledge I have of farming I can get along. I wish you would write me soon & let me know, for if I take it I want to do some ploughing this fall I can get teams of Lewis to do all the work this fall that I want to do. In regard to other arrangements of mine you speak of I will keep you posted in time
The folks are all well & busy husking corn the weather is splendid. Lew & I were down on the bottoms last week but had very poor luck. I want to send you some chickens & ducks soon as the weather gets colder
My love to Susan & all the rest of the family
as Ever your
Brother George
