Baltimore Md Feb 25/62

Dear Sister Annie
I am glad to hear that you are all well by Mr Clapp he said he thought father left a letter to bring to me but did not know if so he left it at home. so if there was any thing in it you can send after it. I am stopping a few days in Baltimore, came up with Mr Cummings after goods. since I have been here I have seen Austin Harris. he looks well and is having an easy time now. nothing / to do but to go to the depot and examine passes Henry Woodard is here also a young man who used to be with Worden, belongs to the same Regt. Saw Davis who used to be with Crandall, a private in the 18th Regt. is clerk in Geo Shencks office. he has just returned from Maine or Whitcomb went home yesterday he came up on the boat from Fortress Monroe with me. Hiram Richmond is gone to not just the same as Harry, but would if he had staid as long he was drunk half the time and not sober the rest.

Baltimore is quite a city but full of secesh half of the people are that way. I return to night to Newport News the boys are all well there or was when I came away. Ed Gallup is living gay now. I am very well now except a slight cold which will be soon gone.

How is all the folks home. is mother as well as usual do you have a girl now. if not you ought to have. how is father and sister is Father or Amos coming out here. I should be glad to see them any time but it is a good ways to / where we are now and cost a good deal. very expensive travelling this way twice as much as North. I cant write longer as this is a horrid pen can hardly work with it

Hoping this finds you all well I remain
Your Aff Brother
