Oct 30th 1864

Dear Mother
I received your kind letter and was right glad to hear from you and that you are all well.

Every thing here is very quiet as our Regt has moved and I do not know when I can get to them. if things are as quiet a few days longer you need not be surprised if you see me home in a few days. The Regt got paid of last Sunday and moved Wednesday morning I had nearly / time to settle up, but not quite

I was down to Norfolk 2 weeks ago and saw E Gallup he says he had a gay time home. he would to go home altogether now I reckon.

Tell Amos I will write him in a few days if I do not come home.

Amos wrote me that Howard Main had bought Geo Wheatons store is he agoing into it himself or only buy it on speculations

Tell father to wait untill I come home and if I come back he can come then.

Hoping I shall be home soon. I remain with Love to all

Your Son
Henry
