Charles H. Butrick to (?) Burdick, 13 October 1867
Salem Oct 13th 1867
Friend Burdick
Dear Sir,
Yours of the 7th inst. was gladly received and I will write you as near as posible how things stand hear in relation to the matter spoken of in your letter.
In the first place I wrote a letter to the Griswold P.M. inquiring into the property of Ada Burdick and wh how the same was disposed of. Soon after we heard that a letter had been received by Isaac Brown from you but what was in the letter we know not only as we heard by the by, for the old gentleman is living with his second wife and instead of him coming to any of his children with the letter and telling them what had been written he said not a word therefore all we know about the afare is what the P.M. at Griswold wrote to me. If you wish the children of Eliza Brown to know any thing about what is to be done you must write to some one else but Isaac Brown. we live within fourty rods of his house but do not go in there no more than if he were a thousand miles / from here us. Now if in relation to the property of Ada Burdick if you will please write me the particulars and state on what ground you think the will can be broken I think now doubt but that the children of Eliza Brown will join with you and press forward the work. the names of the children I will now mention commencing with the oldest vis. Harriet Bishop P.O. Kenosha, Kenosha Co. Wis. Ada Butric P.O. Salem Station Kenosha Co. Wis (this is my mother, I am her oldest son age twenty one). Henry Brown Salem Station Kenosha Co. Wis. Joseph Brown the same P.O. and Sarah D Schultz P.O. Elkhorn Wis. they have requested that I should write and find out the particulars and do the business for them therefore it will be as well to adress to me as any one. Please write soon. very respectifuly
Yours truly, Charles Butric P.O. Salem Station Kenosha Co. Wis.
P.S. Be shure and put on the County as there is another place in this state by the same name
