Charles H. Burdick to Nancy Burdick, 18 April 1869
St. Louis,
Sunday Eve—
April 18th 1869

My Dear Mother
Your kind letter came to hand some days since, and as usual I have delayed in answering it although this time I wrote to Annie at or near the time you wrote and I was waiting for a reply. I am glad to hear that you are all well and I suppose you yet remain in the Hotel. it is probably as well as times are fearfull dull evry place and I think are getting / worse instead of better, at least it is so in St Louis. I read in the news papers of some one shooting himself in Brooklyn but I thought it a mistake as I did not think there was any one there that was fool enough to do it. We are having splendid weather here now but rather warm for this time of the season.

I am very well and I think have not altered any if so the enclosed photograp will show to you

I wrote to Amos a long time since but never recvd any reply. does he stay at the farm this season.

Hopeing this may find you all well I remain with love to all

Your aff Son
Charlie

P.S.
You must excuse penciling as my pen is to poor to write much
C.
