My dear Mother
Your letter came to hand some days since as did Annie also. I have some news for you. I suppose you may be somewhat surprised. I have done what nearly all silly men do. that is I have got married. I have know the lady some three or four years I met her in New Orleans, where her people live. she was visiting in Chicago this winter and I went there and was married on the 3d of Jany. it was a very quiet affair. we went to the ministers house and was / married in the presence of his family. no cards. no cake. only a simple marriage. her maiden name Ella Frances Teller. a very nice young lady not wealthy, but of good parentage and knows how to keep house which is better than all. we are boarding at a private boarding house for the present and I dont know but we will continue as it is as cheap as keeping house. I will write you again in a few days and send you our photograp's.

I did hope to go home this winter but business will not admit of my leaving so long at present but will try to go home next summer

The box I forwarded to day by Adams Ex. and I trust they may be acceptable. it is beautiful weather here like April in Conn. I saw Henry A. Dyer to day but did not get a chance to speak to him.

I hardly know what more to write dear Mother under the circumstances but hope you all will like it and ere many months may have the pleasure of introduce to you at home my wife.

Hopeing this may find you all well My wife joins me in sending love to all and trust you all spent a happy New Year as I did

I remain your aff son
