Cincinnati, June 7 1874
My dear Mother
I have not heard from you for some, although I suppose the letters are in St Louis as I have been away two weeks have been traveling through Illinois & Indiana expect to go back to St Louis some time this week. business is very dull and are not selling much We are having some very warm weather here, close & sultry. it has not rained here for some time and every thing is dry
I had a letter from Ella last week but is not very well owing I suppose / to the warm weather We received your letter telling of the death of the several parties in Brooklyn some were very sudden and shows how uncertain is life, and that any of us are liable to be taken away when least expected I send you Cin. papers of to day
Cin is very dull, worse I think than St Louis
Direct to St Louis as usual my regards to all
write soon
With love to father Mother & sisters I remain
Your loving Son
Charlie
