My dear Mother

                        It seems a long time since I have had a letter from home and I suppose it seems just as long to you all. I left St Louis last April and went to Chicago as I was not doing anything there and failed to do anything in Chicago. I came to Cincinnati June 1^st and and connected with a wholesale grocery and liquor house and am doing tolerably well. Every one complains of hard times but I dont think they are so bad we all imagine they are worse than they / realy are.

            I saw Ed Gallup several times while in Chicago. he was east while I was there but did not see many people, and could not give me much news of Brooklyn.

Ella and myself have been quite well this summer except colds which are common here in summer as this city is very damp and the weather has been quite cool here except this last week which has been the warmest of the summer. We dont like Cin. near as well as St Louis and / hope to go back but will make the best of it while it is the most expensive place we have ever lived in.

 

You must excuse us this and I hope the last time for I will try and write often, but I have got this bad habit of putting off from day to day in writing, untill finally one almost forgets how.

 

            Hoping my dear Mother this may find you all well and that I may hear from you soon I remain Your loving Son, and Ella joins me in sending love to all

                        I sent Annie 2 letters and no answer did she get them oh mother how I would like to see you all is Sarah well good by and god bless and take care of you all
