Charles H. Burdick to Nancy Burdick, 11 April 1879
Cinti. Ohio
April 11th 79

My dear Mother
Your kind letter came to hand to day. I was out of town was the reason I did not get it before. was very sorry to hear of father being ill and although I may seem negligent in not writing to you all or home, I often think and have always hoped that all were well. If father or any one are seriously sick write or telegraph me and I will go home at once. There must / be a great many changes in Brooklyn in the past few years. I can hardly realize that there so many gone.

Ella has been sick with the rheumatism nearly all winter and is yet so that she is hardly able to do anything, and some days hardly walk, but hope the warm weather will drive it all away. as for me I am nearly always well except occassionly my old attack of sick headache, but they dont amount to much It has been a very rough winter and spring bad weather and / quite cold. April has been rain & snow like fall. had a large snow last week.

I am connected with a wholesale liquor house and travel part of the time, and can fix it so on a short notice that I can leave if you or father wishes. I intend to be home this spring or the summer at farthest

Hoping this may find you all better or well Ella joins me in sending love to all I remain dear Mother as ever Your aff son
Charlie
