Nathaniel C. McLean to Mary L. McLean, 8 March 1862
Huttonsville March 8th 1862.
Today dear wife is our mail day and I look forward with great pleasure for its arrival as I know it will bring me letters from you.
The Genl has just come in and calls upon me for a ride to Cheat Mountain camp. I of course must go, and have ordered my horse to be saddled. Major Reily goes along. The trip is without danger as our troops are in force at that point & scattered along this side. This prevents my letter to you so good bye darling wife
Love to all—
N. C. McLean
