Marcus Maxim
Marcus Maxim was born on January 31, 1817, in Middleborough, Massachusetts, to Ebenezer Maxim and Hannah Fuller.  He eventually moved to New Castle, Pennsylvania, and he married Rebecca Officer by the early 1840s. They had at least three children: Charles, born on August 17, 1842; Clarence, born around 1849; and Orpah, born around 1857. They moved to Rochester, Massachusetts, in the 1840s, and Maxim worked as a “master farmer” there. He owned $1,100 of real estate in 1850, and a decade later, his wealth had increased to $1,500 of real estate and $400 of personal property. Rebecca died on November 21, 1871, and he married Sarah Clark on November 28, 1872. He remained in Rochester for the rest of his life, and he died there on August 16, 1889.
