Nathaniel C. McLean to Mary L. McLean, 6 July 1862
Head Quarters 2nd Brigade 1st Div
Camp at Cedar Creek July 6th/62
This letter will be handed you dear wife by Major De Wolf 55th Regt O.V.I. He is attached to my brigade and is compelled on account of his health to leave for a short time. He expects to pass through Cinti and has promised to stop over night at Glendale on his way home. You will find him as agreeable as he is good looking. He is one of my most highly valued officers and you must treat him so that he will be glad to revisit you. It is now past eleven & we march at 4 AM. Love to all.
Yours in love
N. C. McLean
