Helen Slayton
Helen Slayton (maiden name: Wilcox) was born around 1841 in New York to Samuel and Epha Wilcox. Her father worked as a farmer. She grew up and attended school in Harmony, New York, and she married Robert D. Slayton there on September 13, 1857. Their daughter Myra was born around 1866. They lived in Harmony, and her husband worked as an innkeeper.
 
By 1860, they owned $200 of personal property. By 1870, they were living in Cherry Creek, New York, and they owned $500 of real estate and $250 of personal property. They moved to Ashville, New York, in the 1870s, and then to Jamestown, New York, sometime before 1900. Her husband died there on December 19, 1905. She applied for a widow’s pension later that month and eventually secured one. By 1930, she was living in her daughter Myra’s household in Busti, New York. She died around 1930.
