Daniel H. Wright was born around 1811 in Massachusetts. He married Susan J. Porter in Easthampton, Massachusetts, on April 13, 1834, and they had at least five children: Julia, born around 1836; James, born around 1837; Daniel, born around 1840; Arthur, born around 1845; and Sarah, born around 1851. They moved to Ohio around 1835, and Wright worked as a carpenter there. By 1850, they were living in Freedom, Ohio, and he owned $150 of real estate. A decade later, he owned $1,000 of real estate and $300 of personal property. Two of his sons died while serving in the Union army. By 1870, he owned $2,000 of real estate and $100 of personal property. His wife died in 1894, and he followed on September 7, 1898.
