Lucius Root Eastman Jr.
Lucius Root Eastman, Jr., was born on January 25, 1839, in Sharon, Massachusetts, to Lucius R. Eastman and Sarah Ann Belden. His father was a Congregationalist clergyman who owned $3,000 of real estate and $500 of personal property by 1860. The family lived in Berkly, Massachusetts, in 1850, and they moved to Needham, Massachusetts, sometime in the 1850s. He graduated from Andover Theological Seminary in 1857 and spent the following year as principal of Bacon Academy in Colchester, Connecticut. He was ordained on May 1, 1862, and served as the minister of South Church in Braintree, Massachusetts, for the next three years.
 
Eastman married Octavia Yale Smith around 1863, and they had at least two children: George, born around 1863; and Osgood, born around 1865. Octavia died around 1866, and he married Rebecca Crane in Berkley, on November 15, 1870. They had at least seven children: Helen, born around 1871; Arthur, born around 1873; Lucius, born around 1874; Alexander, born around 1875; Rufus, born around 1877; Henry, born around 1879; and John, born around 1880.
 
By 1870, they were living in Somerville, and he owned $6,000 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. He moved to Framingham soon afterward, and he taught Greek and ancient history at the State Normal School there from 1872 to 1878. He remained in Framingham for the rest of his life, and he continued preaching until at least 1910. He died in Framingham on February 26, 1916.
