John Franklin Westcoat
John Franklin Westcoat was born on February 12, 1877, in Fayette City, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Lydia Westcoat. His father was a coal miner. Westcoat grew up and attended school in Fayette City. He married Sarah Gaskill on March 14, 1900, and they had at least seven children: William, born around 1901; Joseph, born around 1903; James, born around 1906; John, born around 1910; Mary, born around 1913; Woodrow, born around 1917; and Lewis, born around 1919. In 1900, they were living in Redstone, Pennsylvania, and Westcoat was working as a coal miner. They moved to Jefferson, Pennsylvania, by 1910, and by 1920, they were living in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. His wife died in 1928. By 1950, he was living in North Strabane, Pennsylvania. He died in Brownsville on June 25, 1968.
