Amanda Klipstein
Amanda Klipstein (maiden name: Hixson) was born on September 4, 1828, in Virginia, to James and Mary Hixson. Her father probably died around 1833, and by 1850, her mother owned $850 of personal property. She married Philip Augustus Klipstein in Fauquier County, Virginia, on October 31, 1850, and they had at least eight children: Emmet, born around 1852; Annie, born around 1854; James, born around 1855; Mary, born around 1857; Cornelia, born around 1859; Louise, born around 1866; William, born around 1866; and Carrie, born around 1869.
 
They lived in Fauquier County, and her husband worked as a merchant. By 1860, they owned $5,820 of real estate and $11,760 of personal property. a decade later, they owned $5,500 of real estate and $850 of personal property. She remained in Fauquier County for the rest of her life. Her husband died on July 3, 1905, and she passed away on April 26, 1909.
