Eleanor Sophronia Thatcher
Eleanor Sophronia Thatcher was born around 1838 in New York to Cyrus and Mercy Thatcher. Her father was a farmer who owned $2,500 of real estate and $827 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Ontario, New York. She married E. J. Whitcomb around 1866, and they had at least two children: Carrie, born around 1866; and Marion, born around 1869.
They lived in Ontario, and her husband worked as a physician. By 1870, they owned $3,000 of real estate and $3,000 of personal property. Whitcomb died around 1875, and she returned to her parents’ household. She married Oscar Whitney on November 26, 1891. They remained in Ontario, and her husband worked as a farmer. He died in 1911, and she passed away in Webster, New York, on September 2, 1922.
