Theresa E. Sproul
Theresa E. Sproul was born on August 17, 1846, in New York to Robert and Eliza Sproul. Her father was a farmer who owned $500 of real estate in 1850. The family lived in Fallsburg, New York, until the early 1850s, when they moved to Liberty, New York. By the early 1860s, they were living in New Milford, Connecticut, and they settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by 1870. She married James L. Moore, and they had three children, including Charles, who was born around 1877. They lived in her parents’ household in Bridgeport until at least 1880. She apparently separated from her husband in the late 1800s. By 1900, she was living in Ramapo, New York, with her son and her mother, and she was earning a living as a teacher. By 1920, she was living in her son’s household in Paterson, New Jersey. She died sometime after 1920.
