Abiram Brown
Abiram Brown was born around 1847 in Indiana to Corkin and Amy Brown. His father was a farmer and retail merchant who owned $12,000 of real estate and $9,000 of personal property by 1870. The family lived in Brown, Indiana.
 
He enlisted in the Union army on August 12, 1863, and he mustered in as a private in Company G of the 117th Indiana Infantry later that day. He mustered out in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 25, 1864.
 
He returned to Brown, Indiana, after the war. He married Emily Beagley on December 27, 1866, and their daughter Cora was born around 1871. Brown worked as a farmer. By 1870, he owned $1,200 of real estate and $200 of personal property. His wife died in 1872, and he married Matilda Frakes on July 16, 1873. They had at least four children: Nellie, born around 1875; Charles, born around 1882; Goldie, born around 1884; and Jessie, born around 1896.
 
They moved to White, Kansas, in the late 1870s, and then to Logan County in the Oklahoma Territory in the 1880s. They finally settled in Kingman, Kansas, in the early 1900s. By 1930, he owned a home valued at $2,000. He died in Kansas in 1935.
