John H. McCoy
John H. McCoy was born around 1839 in Pennsylvania to James McCoy. His father was a shoemaker who owned $1,500 of real estate and $200 of personal property by 1860. He lived in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and by 1860, he was working as a clerk. On September 15, 1861, McCoy received a commission as a 2nd lieutenant in Company B of the 104th Pennsylvania Infantry. He took part in the siege of Charleston. He was promoted to 1st lieutenant on September 16, 1862, and he mustered out on September 30, 1864.
