Catherine Henay (maiden name: Flaven) was born around 1834 in Boston to James Flaven. She married William S. Henay on February 7, 1854, and they had at least seven children: William, born around 1855; Fannie, born around 1857; Catherine, born around 1860; Emma, born around 1864; Benjamin, born around 1868; Laura, born around 1871; and Stephen, born around 1875. They lived in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and her husband worked as a fresco painter. They moved to Concord, New Hampshire, in the late 1860s, and by 1870, they owned $300 of personal property. They probably returned to Boston in the 1880s, and her husband died there on January 11, 1891. She applied for a widow’s pension in February 1881 and eventually secured one. She remained in Boston with her children, and she died sometime after 1900.
