Dear Sir & Brother Yours of Feb 16th & 20 came to hand the 16th found me Sick abed and could not answer it but I am now in a Shape to answer the last in Some Shape
I heared from your Wife & Boy Last week they ware well then and doing well Loesa is with them things are going along about the Same as when you Left only Old Gat is Sick which throws Bigelow in a very bad Shape I have not been out of the house but twice in 16 Days but have been under the Drs care My Kidneys ware affected and Some of the Boys thought Old Gat was gone up but I think with proper care he will be all O. K. in a few days if your Wife wants her wants Shall be Suplied if Gat Lives and as Long as Bigelow has a Red So rest on that Score
The Boys called on me from 3 to 10 times a day when I was worst & Looked well to my interests for which I am very thankfull and from present indications what I ask them to do will be done/
Dr I am So D—d weak that I Shall take my time in finishing this Letter So dont get mad but Subdue your Pasions
What in Gods name does Uncle Sam think Men can do without Arms._.Why if he will call on me I can furnish him arms for 3 or 4 and good arms too..Such as will lay out a Seachashe(sic) 100 Rods and I will help use them to if nesisary but he must learn to use his Men well before I start and then I am with him
I recd a Letter from Capt Richardson the 18th dated the 9th which took 9 days to come from Camp Denison. I crept out of Bed and answered it in Some manner and Mailed it in the morning & at night we got the news that he had Left Camp Denison I dont know whither he got it or not I dont know of any thing more to write for this place is about as far from me as it is from you (as far as the news is conserned untill I get around again) All the Boys Join in Sending their best respects to the Boys of the 54 Rigament and wish them all the luck immaginal but they fell very Sorry that that Old Banner has gone the way it has—for they wanted that Banner to lead the 54 on to Victory untill Rebelion Should be driven from the American Soil
I gave one of the same kind to the Hibernia Gards 8th Rig which has floated over a Seachase(sic) Church in Romney and they have it Still I also gave one to the Light Gards Co. A. 7th Rig which Still is hoisted over their Camp and which I hope will Soon float over the Walls of Richmond & the Gallos of Jeff Davis Wise Tomb Gov Pickins Wigfall Floyd & Breckenrige & Co
But you know best your reasons for parting with yours..and you will please excuse me for making any comment upon the Subject
I have just recd calls from Tom Coe J Kirkpatrick J. H. Powell John Davis & Geo Whapples which has put this letter back Some
And now Loeasa has come direct from your house She says your Famaly is well & doing well Tom Coe wishes you to say to Lt Potter that he has not got that Letter he promised him yet his address is L. M. Coe Cleveland Ohio West Side
