                                                                        Dear Brother Geo
We received your kind letter of nov 7 with much pleasure being the second letter we have received since you left home The papers and money wer also receid which wer quite a cureosity in this place we ar as well as common but have to work prety hard as it is almost imposible to hire any one to work I finished Diging Potatoes yesterday and went to Framing out to our schoolhouse there is a company of home Guards/Capt L Ackley Lt Levi Wells Co Number over 80 meet once a week for drill their has been great excitement hear for the last 6 weeks there is nothing to be heard but wor and rumors of wor
 
well George we have had our Dinners we had Bilbo potatoes baked and we think they ar first rate I had over a peck from the seed you gave me we havent Recd any letter from Cinda yet but hope we will soon we would like to see you all and hope you will come and see us soon as you ar out of the Servis/
 
I could tell you more in 1 hour than I can write in a week I hope you will take good cair of your health as you can and think you will I would like to step in to your camp and see you but my health is not good enough to endure camp life so I must be contented to stay at home and do what I can hear and if the Rebels comes to Penna I shal tak the old Gun and start on my own hook for I think I should know the runways better than I would in the South I hope you will write often as you can conveniently/
 
Charleses family is all well the weather is verry warm and the ground verry dry pasture short my summer crops has come in good But corn and Buckwheat is generaly rather lite through this country Oats is first Rate and worth 40 cts pr Boshel other Grain is cheap I dont know as I can write any thing to interest you so I will bid you good by hoping to hear from you soon     yours truly       R.
