                                                                                                Linesville Pa May 13th 1862

                        Dear Friend
                                                Doctor Logee recd your letter of May 6th this Evening, & being busy hands to me to answer. there is no news here of any moment and as I wrote you a long letter which no doubt you have Recd by this time, I will not detain you with much of a letter this time
 
                                                I was sorry to learn that you were not well, & hope you will speedily recover you must take care of your self & take the Med the Doctor sends you & I guess you will come out right yet
 
                                                If you get Home safe you must come and see us in Linesville we will all be glad to see you & Family. Foster Gehr has got Home he made some money I guess he sent Home a couple of good Horses & some Money a nice Carpet &c &c he is full of Stories. (stories)
 
                                                I wrote you of my Brother in the Iowa 12th have you heard any thing yet
 
                                                But it is getting late and I will Postpone this untill morning & if can think of any thing will write it then                   Good Night
 
Tuesday Mng May 14th
                                                I would gladly fill up a sheet of Fools Cap if I could. I know the soldier far a away from Home & Friends feels an interest in anything coming from anywhere near home. I have understood that Soldiers like long Letters.
 
                                                Things look about as usual here this Morning. no great stir in our streets in the evening when the cars come in there are plenty of People all anxious to hear the news. night before last the news came that Norfolk was taken & the Merrimac blown up and last night was the first we had heard that Beauregard was going to make a stand at Corrinth & had Been reinforced
 
                                                Smith Lines wife came home the other day from Cleveland I do not know whether she saw Cinda or not
 
                                                But it is getting near Mail time, & I will close hoping to hear from you soon
