I would gladly fill up a sheet of Fools Cap if I could. I know the soldier far a away from Home & Friends feels an interest in anything coming from anywhere near home. I have understood that Soldiers like long Letters.
Things look about as usual here this Morning. no great stir in our streets in the evening when the cars come in there are plenty of People all anxious to hear the news. night before last the news came that Norfolk was taken & the Merrimac blown up and last night was the first we had heard that Beauregard was going to make a stand at Corrinth & had Been reinforced
Smith Lines wife came home the other day from Cleveland I do not know whether she saw Cinda or not
But it is getting near Mail time, & I will close hoping to hear from you soon
Yours Truly &c
