F. L. Richardson to George W. Browning, undated
Mr. Browning, Sir;

                                    My husband wrote me that you was the means of saving him from being killed or taken prisoner. You have my sincere thanks for your kindness to him, but sir, you allowed your wife to insult me, both in and outside your gate; inside, when she told me that “perhaps she had all that belonged to her that was in the trunk, and perhaps she did not.” You certainly know what you sent her, and what you marked for her; if all of these things are not given up, please call and let me know what is here that does belong to her. I did not use unbecoming language to her, although I did treat her coldly as she said and I admit; You and Mr & Mrs. Smith heard her language to me, both in the house and yard, and I shall not forget it.          F. L. Richardson.
