Friend George & wife
            As I have Just received a letter Richard and one to direct to you I will write a few lines and send along we are well excepting our little girl she has been very sick had the measels and then the Typhoid fever. we did not expect she would ever be any better for a number of days but she is geting so she sets up sum now. this has been a very hard winter for Kansas coald all the time untill now I have enough to do but have/not don much this winter only chores
 
Mr Thomas was in here a few minets ago he is going to start for Washington next Monday he is the Jeneral Mail agent for NB of Kansas. Hib Case is here JG Clark Trinkwaters from Pike Shumways & Buteles are all that I know & TR Palmer & Leaths from Bradford
 
I expect you are in the war but if you are not I should like to see you out here thare is a plenty to do. write soon
