            Dear Brother
                        I wrote to you five or six weeks ago to tell you that I would send your Box of things & not hearing from you since I write this to let you know that I did send your Box of things to memphis on the 21st of Nov. 1862 contents 1 pr Boots & 2 pr stockings 3 cans fruit & chestnuts & 1 towell & cakes & 2 rolls Butter &c I would like very much to know if you got it or not so I may know what to do &c We are all well & hopeing that this may find you the same We eat our Christmus dinner at George Foots yesterday it was not a very merry Christmus when we thought of who was here last year at this time when you write tell me if you want that land in Missouri for your note of Whittmans & standarts of Belden Seymour he says he will let you have it if you apply for it soon write soon Yours Trully

                                                                        I would like to know what kind of a Christmas you had this year we spent a very merry one last year if you remember But it is a very dull one this year Edwin Foote was home yesterday and all of/Footes to dinner they was 16 of us to dinner Joe what to do you think Old Mr Hinckley is glanting Sarrah Foote around as large as life he is spry as any young man Joel Foote has got himself a wife she is 23 years old widows is all the go Mother has gone home she went on 25th of Nov she say you must write to them they would like to hear from you George wants to hear fom you I think you are very fraid of writting to us we go to the office till we get tired of asking for letters you aint half so good writting as George Foote was to his home Aurlia sent her love to you, and says you never answerd her letter she say she like to hear from the soldiers she say she expect you did not want to answer It for fear she think you was a beau But she writes out of friendship I hope you will write me and write to us all this is all I can think of now I wish you a happy New Year and hope this war will soon come to a close and you get home safe, I hope you will send me a new years present I havent had no present this Christmas Ben in singing to Elizabeth so I cant write half                 good bye
