Friend Browning
Dear Sir your long looked for letter has at last arrived and was glad to hear from you I thought that you had for gotten to write to me and should of written to you again if it had not of been for one of Rutes letters She said that you had written to me and so I thought that I would wait untill I got your letter if it was on the road. Well you say Mr Wills is still blowing about my not getting but $2.50 per day if he says anything more about it please do tell him that I am not such a Damb fool as to leave a job that I was Sure of my 2.50 and go to one that I knew nothing of for the same price. This job is full better than I expected and Mr Claflire the bridge man likes me firstrate he hold me this morning that he would have work as long as I would want to work and thought that I learned the art of Bridge passing firstrate so there is no danger of my getting turned off if nothing happens more than I know of at present there is Hands here that have had steady work for the last four years in Pennsylvania state and Ohio to Tennessee it is easy business to what common carpenter work is it all has to be framed nicer than common carpenter work all to be done to a knife mark instead of a scratch all as common framing is done they never complain how long it takes you to frame a piece if when you get it done it is all right on the knife mark and it is not like common framing for you need not know anything about laying out to do a job of this kind for it is all laid out by the foreman
Well I must say you are a lucky Russ on the draft I expected that you would be pulled certain this last time when I heard that there had of been an other draft & I think that you had better keep in with the Atlantic & Great Western RR compay for you will get a good many jobs of them when you might not have any thing else to do. They have just got a new Road completed to cincinati and a new depot in this place and all things in
order mason work is good in this place plenty of work at 450 per day so they tell me. I bot tools to the amount of $15.50 when I came here which is all that I need for bridge building which would not hardly make a mark for joiner work I shall come up Christmas or new years if can but if not will send it by express to you you keep me posted on matters and things and write often and you will get due answers to all letters that you write Give respects to all and receive the same from
