Dear sister I imbrace the present moment to answer your kind letter I received yesterday and read with much pleasure I was verry glad to hear from you all that were all well. it seemed that you were not agoing to write any more I have been so busy that I havnt time to write you I wrote to benny he has not answered it yet and to brother george well to change we are nearly done Blockadeing now I think we will get a chance to drill in a few Days I will bee verry glad of it Mary you must excuse me for the way I am writeing for times are so/Dul in camp I dont know what to write tell Mother that the turkey was not injured I would like to have an other one like it we are not geting full rashions now nor havent in some time some times we have to eat rise for a day or 2 a week Mary you ast me how I was geting a long in a spiritual point of view Mary I verry cold I read the bible use bad language but it seem impossible to get a long here the boys are so bad they are a great deal of mocking done in our company and in the regt but I dont visit out of our company at all it is not the boys from our settle ment that are so bad well Mary I will close with this hopeing that I may see you before a great while/
 
Mary I wrote to brother george the other day and told him to tell you all I wanted some pants you may send me 2 pare of pants and a shirt I have lost one of mine in washing please send them by Lieut kidd the last of april if you can and if I cant get home before that time I hope I can get off before that time all the march men has gone though it is a bad chance I expect though I will try to get off if possible if I dont get off I would like for you to send me a box of provisions if you can conveniently I must close you must write son and often your affectionate Brother J. Ps. I will try to get a furlowe as soon as we Draw I have not got the money to go till we do draw that will bee in a few days now nothing more at present only these lines leaves me well and tip. billy has the measels now but doing verry well now
