Dear Fathr mother Brothers and Sisters I seet my Self that to drop you a few lines but cannot express my feelings at this time for I am now Seeted to right you the Sad nuse of of the Death of my Dear Brother John he dide at Middletown a bout 13 mils from winchester he Dide the 24 of nov with the Small pock he was taken the Sevent of nov an TJ was taken the 12 we was sent to middletown and to stay in the horsepittle and then Sent to a old Choolhouse and kept a day or two and then Sent to and old out house a mile from town in a wagon and it a raning/ and no Sheet to the wagon at tall and the house was verry opan and thare we had to sufer and thar I experience a Sad time but thanks be to God I had one consolation and that was My Brother left bright evidence that he was going to rest the night before he dide his Sole Seme to happy he was horse but I coud hear him S Glory and was Singing thare is union in heaven and thare union in my Sole Oh let us all mett Strive to mett him in heaven whare thare hant no more triels and trouble nor pane nor death may the lord help us is my prar Oh I have Seene Senes Serice I/have Seene you all I want you all to remember me in all of your prars for I am exposed to danger on evry hand. I forgot to Sate to you that Brother John was Sensible of his death he told me and our nurse a day or too before dide that his time ware most out hear he dide a bout eight oclock at night he dide like one going to Sleep I was laying by his Side and the nurse Seting cose by with a candle a burning and and neither one of us now When he dide I thunk that he had drop of to sleep I hapen to notis to See if he was couverd up good and I notis that he/wasent a breathen as I coud see and ask the nurse to bring me the candle and to my great surprise he was Dead May the lord help us to meet him in heaven is my prar I See that I will have to cose, I feele happy to you that I found Brother Samual hear whare I am last eavning I was verry uneasy a bout him. I hadent heard a wor from him Sence he had bin Sent to the wincester I did not now whether he was ded or a live tel I saw him he is well I am now at Santon got hear day before yestiday I am well all to my feet they are verry Sore from walken right Soon to me Good by
