            Dear father I seat miself this morning to let you no that I am not well but think I will get well soon I heav no complaint non our mess I told you I had bin sick I had the feever ever sense the feight I feel better to day than I hav in a long time I hope that I will soon get well wel to change the boy that was taken priseners hav got back a gain they sey the yankes treat ted them well/plenty to eat them that kneeded cloths wel to chang fathe I heard the outher day that cosen tip was dead I dont now what was the mater with him cosen tip heard it an sent us word by one of our compney the boys sed that cosen tip wond was doig tolerable well he has got a ferlow an will go hoam as soon as he is able to go I hav no neuse that wold interrest you at at this time now than has ben rote hoam
 
Father I dont now what to think of you all a bout thit writing bus ness you dont write or dont direct them right I dont now what to think of you all a bout writing you made me promis te so mane ever week I hav not miss men ey weeks sece sense I lef hoam I now that I hav mist som but I dont get moor than one letter a mounth I reseaved one date of Ap the last one dated the third of this month I dont think that will doo/you hav never wrote how you was geting alog for men this year nothing about your wheat a taul nor what you don at ene time I think I write about all or ever thing that is in the way of work we are a preparing a camp to moov to hav shade      father I forgot to sey ene thing about that lit il note I hav ben sick ever sense that day that I reseavd it I cold ent get enebody to cary it I will tel see to hit as soo as I can Henry Hodnett
