When we were station at Evins Post we had a good chance of sickness and lost several of hour men wihle we staid there Tomas Stephens Died there and I think that we lost a bout thirteen more while we were there It lookes like the resson we have had so much sickness is the cause of hour/treitement since we come into the camp They has bin a great portion of them is had the meazels and the mumps since we come in the camp and when we were station on the Potomac river we had to stand picket and had to work on the batteries was one cause of the boyes aiug so was I think the exposure James Hayes and James Williouby both of them has bin rather on the [?] ever since we [?] heare though they are improveing at this tim and if they will take ceare of themselves will soon be able for duty I am just geting along tolerable at this time i feel feareful that i am goin to have the rumatism and it is something that is very common heare in the camp Uncle William I dont beleive I have any thing that will interest you in the least more than I havet heard of no fighting that has hapend now/in some time i wish to the Lord that they would compromise the matter and let us return home to hour buisness once more for peace would be one of the gratest things now imajunable It is a gineral pinion that England will have a war with the north and if she does I think Peace will be made and hour Blockade will be open in the course of four or five month When I were at Huntsville I rote to Cousin Meary and I stated in the letter that as soon as we were station i should rite to her again I neglected to get paper and ink when I were here before was the resson I have not rote before time you must rite to me and let know where cousin John and cousin Tip is station at this time I want to Know so i may rite to them and probly may get the chance to see them Tom J Judge is my colonel and Wood the Cpt Company H, 14 ala volunteers Rite evry chance you get give the nuse in gineral I will close by sending my respect to you all preserve a one portion for your self From
