Susan I am 5 mils a bove Dalton in line of batle was in a fite the 25 whiped the yankes and drove them back we had one man wonded in our co S J Kidd onley slitly I have onley a bout 10 minuts to rite in so I canot rie any thing a hardley I am in good health I am in hops that tha may find you and the children well I reseved yours of the 21 a fu minits a go you rote that you new whare the Sow was that I turned out I want BR to see to that and if tha is hear and if it is the Lordes will do well to give her up I don’t want men to steal from me and me not at home/
I dont no whether we will have to foler the yankes or not I dont see how we will get sur plise if we do I fear that we will have a heap of fiten to do hear I will try an rite a gain in a fu days though if I dont I dont want you to be uneasey if we have to foler the yankes thare wont be no chance for me to rite I Pray that I may get through safe I will have to close yours truley W A Stephens
