                                                We the undersigned Officers of the 6th U. S. Cavalry: have the honor to recommend that 1st Lieutenant George W. Yates of the 4th Michigan Volunteers. A.D.C to Major General Pleasanton, may be appointed a Second Lieutenant in this Regiment.

Recommending that 1st Lieutenant George W. Yates. of the 4th Michigan Volunteers be appointed a Second Lieutenant in the 6th U.S. Cavalry.

Lieut Yates has been an aide-de-Camp on my Staff since the Army left Falmouth, one year ago. He has distinguished himself on many occasions by his Gallantry, Zeal and intelligence and would make an Excellent Officer of Cavalry.
