Capt. G. W. Yates, 13th Mo. Cavalry, and Bvt Lieut Col U.S. Vols, about to be mustered out of service, is desirous of obtaining an appointment in the regular Army.
I take pleasure in saying, that in my opinion Col. Yates would make an excellent officer, his habits are unexceptional, is young, active and energetic, and well educated, any regiment of the army might be proud of him as an officer and gentleman,

I cordially endorse the within. I have known Bvt Lieut Col Yates for over a year, and he is an officer of fine ability, excellent habits, and every way fitted for a position in the Army—he was Brevetted for conspicuous gallantry at Fredericksburg, Beverly Ford, and Gettysburg—

I take pleasure in adding my testimony to the fore-going in behalf of Bvt Lieut Col. Yates—earnestly recommending him for such position as an officer, as the War Dept. may see fit to appoint him. He is eminently fitted to be an able officer & an ornament to the service—
