from Thomas Wasson                                     to Miss Mariette Hutchins
yours of the 4 inst was delayed on the road so I did not get it untill last monday. I was glad to hear from you once more the rest of the rejiment are here they turned their horses to the rest of the briggade so we have no horses attall now so we will stay here the rest of the summer it is likely we have easy times and plenty to eat but it is lonesome for there is nothing to do except the guard duty which is light we draw flour from the comissary instead of hard bread and bake our own bread so we have good bread the folks here fetch in potatoes and butter to sell and to trade for coffee and sugar so we get along very well in fact it is the easiest place the rejiment ever had since it came out. there is not much danger here unless the make A raid to cut the railrod then we would have pretty tight times/

Marvin Creager is here he is going home on a furlough before long he will probably be there by the first of August but enough of this I think you girls are getting pretty smart on foot if you can walk from Lamont to Loomisville after school you can go any place you choose if all the boys drive like Isaac Rosegrant and Dan Wells I think it is full as safe on foot for you well I must close this I have scribled more alredy than will be interesting to you please direct your letter as you used to do
                                                                                    from your friend
