I have been quite unwell since I left La. we are fixing to go some whear on a march I do not know whear you have heard that the Rebs made an attact on the capitol. we got to washington just in time to prevent them comeing in to the citty. they got a good eal of forage, horses, cattle/grain &c. we followed them across the shanadoah River about 80 miles distance from washington. the 6th A.C. had a fight with them and took back a good eal of the forage and about 80 wagons and burnt 30 or 40 more captured 230 prisoners. you will have to excuse me for not writeing more this time we are agoing to move in one hour and I must get ready. if I had not been sick since I have been here I would have wrote a longer letter.
