At Home…
Dear friend…
I will improve a few moments in writing to inform you that I have arrived Home at last & enjoying my self first best I arrived on the 13th but have been so verry buisy that I could not get an opportunity to write untill now. it is a verry pleasant morning everry thing looks beautiful. I would be much pleased to sit down and have a chat with you instead of scribleing on paper/I think we could enjoy ourselves far better. I hope to soon get my discharge. but do not know how long it will be. we was mustard out of the U.S. service in Washington but have not received our pay yet or our discharges. but I am quite content now for I am at Home and enjoying the society of my friends and old acquaintances I would like to be in Mich. on the 4th of July and see how you spend your Independance. but circumstances will not permit. I hope you will have a good time. I shall expect to hear all the particulars in your answer. tell me all about it and in reply I will tell you all the amusements which I participate in on that day. I wrote to you in Washing a few days before I left I shall expect an answer to that/one as well as this. for I think it is not fair that I should write two letters to you one. but you will excuse me this time for I have not received an answer to my letter I wrot you in Washington & I thought you would not write untill you was sure of my being at Home. well Mariette I will not write a verry long letter this time. but will do better next I will close by bidding you be happy and cheerful. hopeing to hear from you soon. I will subscribe myself as ever your sincere friend
