Dear Brother.
Yours of Mar 13” recd.
yesterday, to my surprise containing
another power of attorney. enclosed you
will find the third one that I have
sent to you. it is not witnessed by any
legal authority such as you wished
but is according to the law of this
country. as I do not feel much like
riding seventy five miles to a justice
of the peace. they are not so plenty here
as with you, I have reserved the Cumber
land property as I may want some place
to lay my head (of my own) when I
come home, solitary and lonely as after five
years in the wilderness. I am afraid
I wouldn’t rest easy in crowded
places. haven’t received any letter from Harriet
for six months. I have written you another
letter which will go I expect by this
same mail. Love to all. write often
Yours asever
