Amos F. Garrison II to Harriet F. Kirby, 22 March 1871
                              Hermosillo March 22” 1871

My Dear Sister:
Your very kind letter of Jany
16th came to hand a few days ago, but until
now I have not had time to answer my
ususal custom is to answer all home letters
immediately - I do not wish to tell you
that you tell a story, for you did not
think anything of the kind “that I thought
perhaps it was an annoyance to you”     You
know very well that I like to hear from
home often, to know how you all are and
how you are getting along.

“When are you coming home” - quen
sabe’.     I do not know.     Saving could go home
easily being free, but I have some 20,000
invested here in my property than I can
not put in my pocket and walk away.
with it is necessary to attend to my
interests as times are very dull.    I have
not made a dollar for 3 years.    My
principal object in coming here was
health, which was pretty much broken  down.
I am now well and weigh 171 pounds.
Tell Miss Sizzie York that unfortunately
the papers were not from me.    more than
probable they were from S.S.Mulford
who was stationed there.    I am afraid she
would not understand any papers
that I could send as they are all Spanish.
where is Tom York - Who did Wolcott
marry?

Uncle Amos is very well and
reasonable happy, but all the time he
says he wants occupation, but I do
not want him to do anything.    I am
able and willing to support him and
I want him to live with me the
balance of his life.    he has been gone
with a friend of his to the cotton factory
about 40 miles from here, for two days.
took his shot gun along a gunning.

Tell the girls to write, also Mr. Archer
that I should very much like to hear from
him.          that I have for 2 or 3 years been watch
ing arrivals in San G. thinking that he
would be sure to try the railroad as he
likes to travel  and see new scenery and
if he does I want him to be sure to come
and see me.     I will take care of him and we
will try more rides together.     it would be
well worth to him the expense if he does
come try to time his visit in the fall
or winter.

Give my regards and love to
every body and tell them all to write
once in a while.     send me a country
paper.     how is Mrs   M.B.C.
