Camp of 8th C.V.V.
March 15th 1865
Dear Mother
I recieved a letter from you some two days ago and have not had time to answer it untill now and as I have five letters to answer this evaning I cannot write very long letter this time. I got a paper from you soon after I wrote to you last I think a great deal of them and the boys all come and want to see the paper because it is from the north and a paper that they do not often get out here we get the Herald and times but it is one thing over and over so much that they get/tired of it. There is not much news out here onley that comes from deserters and we do not believe all of that. the rebs are comeing in very fast now and say they are tired of war.
My health is good as can be expected. It is now most time to put the lights out and I have not writen but three letters but I must stop for the night
Give my love to all the folks and except this from your affec son
Horace
pleas write soon
love to all
