Horace Garrigus to Brother, 10 February 1861
Hartford Feb 10th 1861
Dear Brother
I did not go to church to day so I thought I would try and write a few lines to let you know all what the Lord is doing for me though so wicked yet I feel to prase him that he does love me he has given me helth while so many around us are sick and dying and has is giving us plenty while so many are sufering for want of Clo food and clothing. when I reed how the people in Arcansas are sufering it makes me feel how man many blessings we recieve daft dayly and are so ungreatful for them. my prayr is that the Lord guard me while here on earth and at last take me to live with him in heaven. I shal not write much more at presant we are all well Lotty was well the last we heard from her write soon tell Mother I wrote to her some time ago and did not hear from her I have not/got any work yet the reason that I came back to hartford was that Cy was at mr Mr Douglas’s and could not keep me.
from your Brother
