Hartford March
15th 1861
Dear Mother
I now will try to write a few lines to let you know how I am getting along I am not very well I am have the be headache a good part of the time which is not very pleasant I am sick with it now. Charlotte left her place in Springfield and has gone to New heaven to work for Mrs Kirk I believe Lizzy is well. Alley is not very well she has soars come out/all over her ever sence Janwary first and they do not get much better. Lewis has jest come home from work sick he is getting such poor pay that it is as much as he can do to get along and not run in debts I have not had any work sence I left Watterbury it has been hard work to get money to pay postage with so I have not written in some time but I live in hope of work in the spring/
Cyrus was here yesterday and sayed he was going into buisness for himself in the spring and thinks he will take me with him tell en th Ellen to write soon Excuse poor spelling
